The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is easily among the among the most successful products from Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car maker, in recent times. It won’t be wrong to say that such has been the response to the Ertiga MPV that it is almost flying off the shelves! The Ertiga has been really quick in establishing a strong foothold in our MPV market. Stories of the Ertiga’s waiting period for Ertiga extending almost in to the next year are common and future seems pretty bright for the only C segment MUV in MSIL’s line up.
Underpinning the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is a slightly modified version of the Swift’s platform and the MPV is already being exported to the Indonesian car market, where it is sold only with a 1.4 litre petrol engine. (Please note- Both 1.4 petrol and 1.3 diesel versions are on sale in India)
MSIL will now launch the highly successful MPV in Thailand, with the Suzuki Ertiga Thailand launch event happening tomorrow. The media drive for our counterparts in Thailand has already taken place. The Thailand spec Ertiga will be visually very similar to the Indonesian model and will boast of a chrome plated front grill, which helps in differentiating between the India spec and Indonesia spec car. The Ertiga that will go on sale in Thailand will also get same levels of features and equipment.
The Thailand bound Ertiga is powered by the same 1.4 litre K-Series petrol engine that can be found under the hood of India spec model. This 1.4 litre engine has a max power of 95 PS and a peak torque of 130 Nm. The engine comes mated to a five speed manual transmission.
