Surprise! The fully faired Bajaj Pulsar 200SS is headed our way

Surprise! It seems like Bajaj Auto Ltd, one of the key players in the ever growing Indian two wheelers industry, is close to launching a faired variant of its flagship model- the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS!  The faired bike, which in all likelihood will be called as the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS (supersports), could be launched in coming few weeks.

The new Bajaj Pulsar 200SS will be the first fully faired BAL motorcycle and could be more powerful than its naked donor motorcycle.

The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS is powered by a four valve, four stroke, single cylinder 200cc motorcycle with max power of 23.5 PS and peak torque of 1.86 kgm. The engine comes mated to a six speed gearbox. For the 200SS though, expect the motor to have a slightly higher max power of 24PS. The bike would feature the same rear monoshock suspension and 17 inch alloy wheels.

It may be noted that while the Pulsar 200NS boasts of segment leading power and torque figures, the fact that its immediate rivals (read: Hero ZMR, Yamaha R15, Honda CBR150R) sport a full fairing has made life a tad tough for the flagship Pulsar. Worth mentioning here is that as per the perception of many, a faired bike needs to be sharper and faster. Several R15 buyers were smitten by the machine only because it ‘looked’ like a race bike and not because it handled like one. Some still compare the CBR150R with the 250cc variant. Thus, having a fairing seems to be the most quintessential factor to appear cool.

It is expected that the fully faired Bajaj Pulsar 200SS, which will be a Yamaha R15 V2.0 and Honda CBR150R adversary, would be only slightly pricier than the naked sibling and could have an on-road of approx INR 1.10 lakhs.

The faired 200NS should be the perfect successor to the fast aging Pulsar 220 DTSi and we are eagerly waiting to swing a leg on the all new Pulsar.
