It has emerged that Korean SUV maker Ssangyong will jump into the compact SUV band-wagon by unveiling its compact SUV at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The Ssangyong compact SUV is expected to hit the dealerships in UK in January 2015.

Auto Express has reported that the compact SUV from the Korean automaker would bow in at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, which will be held in March.

The Ssangyong compact SUV would be based on the auto maker’s new compact chassis platform. The upcoming compact SUV will find itself positioned below the Korando in the car maker’s product portfolio and is likely to go on sale in the United Kingdom for a price of less than GBP 12,000 (approx INR 11.90 lakhs). The Ssangyong Compact SUV could be based on the car maker’s XIV-1 CUV that made its public debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Powering the Ssangyong Compact SUV could be a set of newly developed 1.6 litre petrol and diesel engines. The Ssangyong compact SUV would rival high selling models such as the Nissan Juke and the Peugeot 2008.

Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the upcoming Ssangyong Compact SUV.
