Finally, some clear photographs of the brand new i20 without an iota of disguise have surfaced courtesy Autocar India. Also pictured here is what appears to be the top end variant of the upcoming premium hatchback, due in September(unconfirmed). Judging by the new set of glitzy wheels and chrome door handles- surprisingly it has lost its DRLs. The blacked out C-pillar stays as promised in the renders and so does the new Ecosport-esque hexagonal grille and front fascia. As reported before ,the new i20 will benefit from Hyundai’s Storm Edge design philosophy, an evolution of the fluidic design philosophy. Stylistically it looks more grown up, tauter and matured than its predecessor.
Internally codenamed as ‘IB’, the new i20’s Indian powertrain options should continue unchanged from the previous model- albeit with subtle improvements, which include 1.2 liter Kappa petrol and the 1.4 liter diesel- clubbed exclusively with an automatic transmission. The 2015 i20 promises to be a feature rich premium hatch, very much like the outgoing model, and should be one of the new benchmarks in its segment.
