Ssangyong has once again been caught testing the upcoming Ssangyong X100 Mini SUV. The upcoming Ssangyong X100 mini SUV will rival the highly successful Nissan Juke once it goes on sale in January 2015. Korea and Europe will be the first markets to get this model.

The X100 mini SUV has looked up at the Concept XLV for its exterior design and styling. The Concept XLV was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show 2014. The XLV was also showcased at the Beijing Auto Show (Auto China) 2014. However, while the XLV concept sports 7 seats in a three-row layout, the X100 will be a 5-seater initially. A seven seater variant will be launched at a later stage, probably in the later half of next year.

In Mahindra owned Korean auto maker’s product portfolio, the X100 mini SUV will be placed below the Korando C SUV. The upcoming model is underpinned by an all-new platform, which could also underpin the upcoming Mahindra S102. Powering the Mahindra Ssangyong X100 SUV will be an all-new 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine.

Ssangyong X100 prices are expected to start at 15,000 pounds (INR 15.2 lakhs) In the European car market, the X100 will rival the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur, Nissan Juke and Vauxhall Mokka.

Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the upcoming Ssangyong X100 Compact SUV.
