The new generation Honda Civic concept made its debut at the 2015 New York Auto show and ever since then, we have been eagerly awaiting to see the final, production ready avatar of this premium sedan from the Japanese car maker. Early this year, the all-new, tenth generation 2016 Honda Civic revealed itself fully via some leaked patent drawings. This time around, the sedan has been spotted during its test run, in a heavily camouflaged avatar. As many as three test mules of the upcoming Honda Civic were snapped in the town of St. George, Utah.

There has been no word about the dimensions of the new Civic but the new upcoming model is likely to grow in size with a longer wheelbase, though with shorter overhangs. The car will have an even sportier appeal with more power in its Si and Type R versions which will come into existence after the launch of the basic version.

Under the hood of the new Civic will be a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre turbo engine with direct injection that is expected to deliver 200bhp of power with torque rated at around 250 Nm. The engine is expected to be mated with a six-speed manual and an all-new CVT. The new car will also reportedly receive a 1.8-litre i-VTEC and VTEC turbo engine option for the American market, and a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine for the European market.

The interiors on the 2016 Honda Civic were also snapped on another occasion. The spy images of the interior of the 2016 Honda Civic capture an updated design with the exclusion of current model’s split-dashboard. The new design includes an electronic handbrake, steering mounted controls, centre console mounted infotainment system and the environment friendly E-CON switch right next to the gear knob.
