After bringing you the pictures of the Fiat Avventure aka Cross Punto from Italy, we finally bring you the spy pics from our Indian soil. The car was clicked by a Anything on Wheels reader in Pune.
With the already launched Fabia Scout and Cross Polo, and with Toyota also expected to showcase the Etios Liva Cross at the Auto Expo, the Fiat Punto Avventure will be the fourth such model.
The test mule seen here sports the spare wheel on the tail gate. The model will boast of a “macho” look, and will be a hit with people who want the looks of an SUV with the practicality of a hatchback. The Fiat Avventure, as already seen in the earlier pics, will come with plastic body cladding, and a tail-m0unted spare wheel. The model is also expected to have more ground clearance and bigger wheels.
Powering the car will be the same 1.3 liter Multijet diesel engine. Fiat currently offers this engine with 75 PS and 90 PS states of tune. All other bits are expected to be carried over from the normal Punto. The engine will be mated to a 5 speed manual transmission, and will send power to the front wheels.
The Punto Adventure will be similar in dimensions to the regular Punto, which measures 3,987 mm in length. However, the addition of a tail mounted spare wheel will make the Avventure cross the 4000 mm mark. However, the car will manage to qualify for the small car excise duty benefits. (Similar to the Ford EcoSport).
Fiat will likely showcase the model at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2014 next month. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the Fiat Punto Avventure.
