Spied: Ferrari 458 Speciale Spider

Following earlier reports, the forthcoming Ferrari 458 Speciale Spider has been caught undisguised by a Cars & Business member at the Italian manufacturers’ Maranello facility. As expected, the Speciale Spider continues to looks gorgeous as ever, donning the Speciale stripes, aero bits along with the tricked out roof mechanism borrowed from the Spider.

The 458 Speciale is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine that churns out 597 bhp and 540 Nm of torque, apart from that glorious naturally aspirated V8 rasp from the dual exhausts. The 458 Speciale Spider is expected to get the same engine with same power output numbers. So, expect the 458 Speciale Spider hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.0 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.1 seconds- however the added weight of the retractable roof and increased stiffness may hamper that a tad.

The 458 Speciale Spider may be unveiled in October at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. No confirmation however can be made on that. Also, no word whatsoever on the confirmed nomenclature, since the last of its ilk, the 430 Scuderia convertible was called the 16M.
