The light commercial vehicle (LCV) market will soon gain another member, the Eicher-Polaris Flexituff. This little LCV is the fruit of the two companies’ joint venture and is to hit the market in some months. The Flexituff was recently caught testing by Gaadi and their spy pictures show the interior of this upcoming LCV. The Eicher-Polaris Flexituff will be quite flexible and will come in at least two variants; There will be a cargo model and a passenger-hauling model, both models primarily targeting the semi-urban and rural markets.

The interior is spartan, but gets a dash-mounted gear lever.

To keep costs to a minimum, Eicher-Polaris has made liberal use of plastic throughout this cabin. The Flexituff does get a dashboard-mounted gear lever, but that’s about it pretty much. There is a large single piece windscreen and a single windscreen wiper. There is a glovebox right next to the gear lever, surrounded by acres of tough, hard plastic. You can also spot the seatbelt in the above picture, but we doubt the Flexituff gets anymore in the way of safety.

Cheers man, but do wear your seatbelt next time.

The Eicher-Polaris Flexituff LCV is to be produced in Jaipur, at a brand-new facility. Eicher-Polaris have already spent INR 250 crore in the development of their new LCV and plan to sell between 10,000-12,000 units per year for a kick off. The Flexituff is to get its power from a Greaves Cotton 600cc diesel engine which promises 25 km/l of fuel economy.
