How could you not want to ride the Batpod, except you probably never could! It seems there is someone other than Batman who has finally managed to swing a leg across one. The caped superhero’s gadget and weapon laden ride, as projected in The Dark Night Rises, has been sold for 3.12 lakh pounds, or INR 2.7 crore. The auction took place at the Prop Store live auction at the BFI IMAX in London. The Prop Store , a specializes in selling film props.
Fans would be disappointed to know that the Batpod in question here isn’t action ready, and was used only for some closeup shots. Known as the ‘Hero’ version, this specific model was the most detailed version created for the movie. It does have a 750cc Honda sourced engine ready to power its wheels, but misses out on certain key components such as throttle controls, battery, and fuel pump. It wouldn’t be too difficult to set it rolling with some mods, but getting it road legal would be another hefty investment.
As a piece of cinema and superhero movie history, however, the Batpod in question has great significance and can be sold for a profit at a later date.
Other items on sale included Batman’s Batsuit which was sold for 192,000 pounds. The costume from 2005’s Batman Begins got the auctioneers a crazy 96,000 pounds.
There were other items on sale too, including Steven Spielberg’s clapperboard from 1975’s Jaws and Harry Potter’s Acceptance Letter for Hogwarts.
