Skoda has just launched the Yeti
Skoda will be offering the Yeti to buyers in only one variant featuring all time 4-wheel drive and powered by a 2.0 TDI engine as of now. At Skoda’s stall, its Laura RS is also being showcased but it won’t be launched as of now. The Fabia Greenline along with the Superb Combi is slated to be launched tomorrow.
In international markets, the Yeti has a four wheel drive variant along with a two wheel drive. It also offers quite a few engine options including the radical 1.2 TSI four cylinder petrol engine developing a max power and torque of 102PS and 18Nm respectively and a 2.0 litre diesel engine. A six speed manual and seven speed automatic DSG gearbox option are also offered to choose from. Based on a Golf platform, Skoda’s new crossover can switch between playing the roles of a hatchback and an SUV depending on the existing role call. The Yeti does not specifically cater to the needs of any specific segment and will create a new one.
Skoda is set to launch quite a few models/variants at this year’s Auto Expo. Here’s a foretaste of what you can expect:
Yeti
Skoda will be launching the Yeti at the Auto Expo. It will be powered by the radical 1.2 TSI four cylinder petrol engine developing a max power and torque of 102PS and 18Nm respectively. A six speed manual and seven speed automatic DSG gearbox option will be offered. The manufacturer will also be offering a diesel variant powered by its 1.9 Tdi engine. The petrol engine variant of the Yeti is expected to retail for around Rs.13 lakh while the diesel variant will sport a price tag close to 15 lakh rupees. The Yeti will also be launched in a four wheel drive variant along with a two wheel drive. Based on a Golf platform, Skoda’s new crossover can switch between playing the roles of a hatchback and an SUV depending on the existing role call. Sokda’s new crossover offering does not specifically cater to the needs of any specific segment and will create a new one.
Fabia Sportsline
In February Skoda had revealed that they were planning to launch three new variants of the Fabia hatchback. At that time it was revealed that the Fabia Sportsline will be one of them. It was said that this sports variant of the Fabia will be launched with a bigger displacement engine that currently powers the Octavia and Laura. Since then there has been no PR activity from Skoda’s activity about their upcoming hatchback variants. At the Auto Expo Skoda the Fabia Sportsline will be on display at the Skoda stall. Skoda is also expected to confirm a launch date and price details for the Fabia Sportsline. The manufacturer till now has not commented on whether the Sportsline will be powered by their 1.8 TSI or 1.9TDI engine. This Fabia variant will be offered will sport larger 15” wheels along with new sporty interiors which will add to the overall appeal of the hatchback. On the exterior a few ‘nip and tuck’ design changes and new color options are likely.
