Skoda Rapid Special Edition in Pipeline

After launching the Rapid Ultima Edition, Czech auto maker Skoda is readying up a new special edition of the car for the Indian market.

As can be seen in the image, the Skoda Rapid special edition will feature cosmetic changes to the exterior. Changes visible include black inserts for the headlamps with projector units, black surrounds for the grille and also blackened wing mirrors. Special 16-inch ‘Comet’ alloy wheels and blackened fog-lamp inserts will also be offered on the edition. Blackened styling bits on the special edition could imply that the car maker may christen it as the Skoda Rapid Black edition.

The Rapid special edition is also expected to feature upgrades to the interiors. The car may feature a touchscreen audio system and special black accents. This edition could the last special one from the Indian subsidiary of Skoda to be offered in the Indian market before the facelifted Rapid arrives in the Indian market.

The special edition Skoda Rapid is expected to go on sale by the end of the year and will come with the new 104 bhp 1.5-litre diesel engine shared with VW. A DSG automatic gearbox and paddle shifters may also be on offer.

The facelifted Rapid is expected to get more angular styling along with the company’s new signature grille and headlamp design which can be seen on the new Skoda Octavia and the recently facelifted Skoda Superb sedan.
