The Indian subsidiary of Skoda Autos has silently introduced a a range of updates for its highest selling model- the Skoda Rapid.
The 2014 Skoda Rapid is available in only two variants- Ambition Plus and Elegance. Also available will be the ‘Leisure’ limited edition model, which was launched sometime back and misses out on the recent updates that the Rapid has been bestowed with. The Active Plus variant has now been discontinued.
The 2014 Skoda Rapid Ambition Plus variant comes equipped with features such as dual front airbags, ABS, a music system with MP3, USB, Aux-in, SD card reader and Bluetooth telephone connectivity. The car also gets steering mounted audio controls. There also is a ‘leather package’, which consists of stuff like leather cover for gearlever, seats and steering wheel.
In addition to all these features, the 2014 Skoda Rapid Elegance also gets projector headlights.
The prices for the Rapid now start at INR 8.24 lakhs (ex-Showroom, Mumbai).

Mechanically, the car remains unchanged and comes with two engine options- a 1.6-liter MPI petrol with max power of 105 PS and peak torque of 153 Nm and a 1.6-liter diesel engine with max power of 105 PS and peak torque of 250 Nm. While the diesel engine comes mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox, the petrol engine variant can be had with either a 5 speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
