According to a report by Team-BHP :

  • The company’s product planners are expected to finalize the production of Vento Diesel AT soon
  • The transmission being considered is a 6-speed DSG
  • The DSG will come with the upcoming 104 BHP 1.5 liter TDI mill (scaled down version of the current 1.6 liter for excise benefits)
  • The Diesel Vento AT is expected to be launched in the 3rd quarter of this year

Volkswagen currently offers the Vento with the 1.6 liter petrol and diesel motors. Both the motors develop 105 PS of max power and come mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. Also, the car maker recently introduced the Vento 1.2 TSI AT with the 7 speed DSG. This 1.2 liter turbocharged motor churns out 105 PS @ 5000 RPM and 175 Nm of peak torque @ 1500-4100 RPM.

A diesel automatic in this segment is the need of the hour. Currently, the Hyundai Verna, with the 4-speed torque convertor automatic transmission is the only option buyers have. With the introduction of a diesel automatic Vento with lightning quick DSG, Volkswagen will be providing just what the doctor ordered.

Also, the Vento and Polo are due for a facelift. The Polo facelift test mules have already been spotted testing in and around Pune. We expect Volkswagen to introduce the Vento diesel automatic with the facelifted model.

Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the Volkswagen Diesel Automatic India launch and other details.
