Soon after, it also emerged that India would get a Honda Brio based compact SUV instead of the Vezel. Now, a Japanese car magazine Mag-X has come up with a speculative rendering of this Honda Brio based compact SUV, which will be seen battling it out against the likes of the Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster in car market like that of India. Another Japanese website Car Sensor has said that the upcoming Brio based B-Segment crossover will be “for the audience who cannot be covered by the Honda Vezel.”
It may be noted that while the Honda Vezel has been designed for the global market, and is already close to entering the China and US car market, bringing it to India would incur unreasonably high costs, which would lead to a price tag that would be unfavorable. . Hence, for price sensitive markets like that of India and Thailand, Honda will come up with a Brio-based Mini SUV that will join the likes of the Amaze and Mobilio, both of which are again Brio-derived.
While not much is known about the upcoming Honda Brio based Compact SUV, it is being said that the car will be powered by an EcoBoost rivaling 1-liter three-cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine. Also, Indian market would get the 1.5L Earth Dreams fou pot turbo diesel engine that has a max power of 100 PS and powers the Amaze in India.
The Honda Brio compact SUV is expected to be launched sometime before mid 2016.
