The new Q7 shall wear an edgier suit.

The Audi Q7 is the biggest, baddest and also one of the practical cars that the Ingolstadt-based carmaker produces. Audi India has managed to sell over 5,000 of these gentle giants in the country and the demand is still strong. Audi, apparently, will reveal their all-new 2016 Q7 at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show. To ensure better fuel savings and improved performance and handling, the 2016 Audi Q7 has been put on a strict diet of high-strength steel, aluminium and carbon-fibre. That’s thanks to the lighter VW Group’s MLB platform that has been used for the underpinning of the 2016 Q7. It directly leads to a weight loss of 300 kg, which is roughly equivalent to the kerb weight of an cruiser motorbike.

The current car looks quite bulky in its proportions.

You can also see the new design language on the 2016 Q7 which has been adopted by Audi for all of its future models. This change in the design philosophy means that the Q7 will lose its rounded and smooth curves, but will gain a more sharp and mature look. Whatever the visual change might be, the 2016 Q7 will wear the undeniable Audi face. Reports suggest that the 2016 Audi Q7 will be offered with a choice of V6 and V8 petrol engines and an all-new 3.0-litre V6 TDI Clean Diesel motor which will be tuned in three different states of power. There will also be two plug-in hybrids for the international market.

As we mentioned earlier, the Q7 plays a pivotal role for Audi in India, with over 5,000 units sold since its introduction in the country. All of these SUVs are CKD kits brought-in from Slovakia and then assembled locally at Audi’s plant in Aurangabad.
