Renault Lodgy vs Honda Mobilio vs Maruti Ertiga Vs Chevrolet Enjoy vs Chevrolet Spin vs Toyota Innova: Tech Spec Comparo

The dominating vehicles in the MPV space in the Indian car market, the Toyota Innova, Honda Mobilio and Maruti Ertiga, will soon face the heat of competition as more and more car makers are entering the space. The latest member to join the race is the Renault Lodgy while the Chevrolet Spin is expected to reach Indian shores very soon. We compare the technical specifications of these new and upcoming MPVs to find out how do they fare against each other.

In terms of power, although the Toyota Innova dons the largest engine compared to the rest of the cars, it’s the new Renault Lodgy that takes the first spot with its power output of 110PS @ 4000 RPM and 245 Nm of torque @ 1750 from its 1461cc four-cylinder motor. The Lodgy also receives a six-speed manual gearbox while all other MPVs are equipped with a 5-speed automatic. The Toyota Innova, despite having a 2494cc motor, produces 102 PS of power at 3600 RPM and 200 Nm of torque @ 3600 RPM to secure the second spot. Not too far behind on the third spot is Honda’s Mobilio which, from its 1498cc engine, delivers 100 PS of power at 3600 RPM and 200 Nm of torque @ 1750 RPM. Making its place on the fourth spot is Maruti Ertiga which churns out 90 PS of power @ 4000 RPM and 200 Nm of torque @ 1750 RPM from its 1248cc engine. The Chevrolet Spin and Enjoy take the fifth and sixth place respectively. The Renault Lodgy, Chevrolet Enjoy and Toyota Innova also receive brownie points for the eight passenger setup.

The Renault Lodgy and Toyota Innova are not available with petrol engines and hence the list of cars has narrowed down. Among the petrol powered variants, it’s the Honda Mobilio that surpasses the competition with its 1497cc four-cylinder motor that delivers 119 PS of power @ 6600 RPM and 145 Nm of torque @ 4600 RPM. The Chevrolet Spin comes in second with its 1485cc four-cylinder engine that churns out 109 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 141 Nm of torque @ 4000 RPM. The third place is also captured by Chevrolet with its Enjoy. The Chevrolet Enjoy, from its 1399cc motor, puts out 100.2 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 131 Nm of torque @ 4400 RPM. The Suzuki Ertiga comes in last with an power output figure of 95 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 130Nm of torque @ 4000 RPM.

Renault has priced the Lodgy quite competitively as it undercuts even the most basic version of the Innova, which is considered to be its prime rival, apart from the Maruti Ertiga and Honda Mobilio.
