In latest Pulsar VS400 news, it seems that the new brand name has finally been decided. Reportedly, in a wise move executed by Bajaj, their new power cruiser will be launched as the – Bajaj ‘Kratos’ VS400. So, dropping the astronomical name (Pulsar) the bikemaker has found the new name from Greek Mythology. Not only will this bike bear a new brand name, it will also extend Bajaj’s product portfolio into a new segment.

Referring to classical Mythology, being the son of Pallas (Titan) and Styx (goddess of the River Styx), Kratos personifies strength and power.

The new Kratos range will be positioned above the Pulsar brand and will sell for a relatively premium price. Its first product, the VS400, which was scheduled to launch in the month of August, will now be launched in November. The launch was delayed to cater to the demand of the upcoming festive season. While the exact date is still not out, Company MD Rajiv Bajaj did confirm the month of launch.

Interestingly, there are rumours that VS stands for ‘Vantage Sports’.

The Bajaj Kratos VS400 will be power by a 373.2 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that’s believed to be propelling the KTM Duke 390’s engine. Tweaked to suit the character of the cruiser, the engine will be capable of producing 35 Bhp at 8,000 rpm and will be coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. Other features on the VS 400 will include – Full-LED headlamps (a first for an Indian motorcycle), Split, fully digital instrument cluster, Mono-shock at the rear, and ABS (most probably an optional feature). The VS400 is expected to be priced at around INR 1.8 Lakhs.
