Psycho Custom Buildz : Wacky bike mods at a budget-friendly price

pyschomoghe 2

Psycho Custom Buildz founder, owner and designer Shaardul Moghe has come a long way since he customised his father’s Hero Honda CD100SS back in 2005. Back then it was the enthusiasm that pushed Moghe to make the economuter take a wacky new shape. Fast forward 10 years to November 2015 and Moghe turned his passion into his profession. He started his own custom house and named it Psycho Custom Buildz to reflect the unrestrained, wild nature of his mods. Like most of the custom houses in the country, the first product to have gone under his tools was a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 that was seen by hundreds at the Royal Enfield Rider Mania in Goa.

It is this idea of doing something unusually bold is what drives Moghe when he visualizes his creations. It’s been some time since Moghe started customizing two-wheelers, and several machines have already been transformed at his fledgeling custom house. We’ll be featuring three of his recent works on this page.

YEZDI 1

First up is a 1976 Yezdi, a true icon of its time. This legend was a wreck when Moghe brought it home to bring it back to its original, much deserved glory. The restoration was not easy and Moghe had to consult the experts of this workhorse to reinstate the motor. It took quite a few man-hours and a small fortune to make that Yezdi the head-turner it is today. The matte finished octane green paint job, with the shiny chrome bits, does not go unnoticed.

There are no aftermarket parts on this Yezdi and we think that’s probably the best way to own one, with its original retro-styling. The distinctive green colour gives this Yezdi its unique character and charm, making it stand out.

ROCYNJO 2

Another modification to have rolled out from the custom house is a Honda Activa that looks like no other out there. Christened the ROCYNJO (pronounced “rockin’ joe), the custom scooter gets a minimalist look and a floating seat design. To achieve this, Moghe stripped the scooter bare, removing the storage space, petrol tank casing, panels and air filter. The seat gets frontal support with help from a pipe and some tubing which blends in with the whole look and it takes a moment to figure out where the saddle is resting. Apart from the custom seat, the Activa also gets a redesigned handlebar, a minimalistic round headlight, new tail light, new turn signals, air cleaner and a free flow exhaust. The minimalist themed, bare bones scooter is draped in vibrant candy gloss red and dark matte blue colours targeted at young, college going students.

KOTWAL 1

Another mod job to have rolled out from the custom house is a scrambler, a motorcycle body type which is all the rage these days. Based on the humble Unicorn 150, this customised scrambler gets a complete transformation and the only bits retained from the original motorcycle are the chassis and the engine. The stock tank has been replaced by a very geometrical looking unit with prominent lines of the design being highlighted. The body work gets a mix of paints as the chassis comes draped in Bean Yellow Green while the rest of the body and the wheels get matte olive green finish.

KOTWAL 3

Apart from the customised fuel tank, the scrambler gets a custom handlebar and handlebar grips, new headlight, re-styled tail light, fresh new turn signals, air cleaner, custom made exhaust, master cylinder cap and custom made front fender. The new exhaust came off an old Bajaj M80 which was customised to gel with the overall design of the motorcycle. It was cut into two, straightened out, cleaned up and chrome draped to finally make it on the scrambler. This client comes from a police background so he wanted the bike to speak for him and thus the scrambler was named the KOTWAL!

ROCYNJO 1

Not many mechanical changes have been made to the motorcycles featured above, with the alterations being primarily cosmetic, apart from aftermarket air-filters and customised exhausts. Both ROCYNJO and KOTWAL were completed in a month’s time each.

So what sorts of modifications can you approach Moghe for? Psycho Custom Buildz undertakes all kinds of modifications, i.e. body-work which involves sheet metal fabrication and custom seats. The custom house also makes custom saddle bags, custom handlebars and custom exhaust systems on demand. Headlights, tail lights, turn signal and other spare parts are sourced from the market or are imported if it fits the budget. The good part about the Psychos is they understand that there no one-size-fit-all solution. They listen to their customers and create a solution based on their budget and requirements.

YEZDI 4

The custom house hasn’t ventured into the performance upgrades yet. However, Moghe can make performance upgrades on client demand if he is confident enough to bump up the output without putting the longevity of the mechanicals at a peril. The custom house has a budget-friendly approach because they want to give a fully custom-made and tailored-to-happiness experience to the client.

YEZDI 3

The journey hasn’t been easy for Moghe but he is confident that he would eventually achieve his dream of making a mark with his brand. Currently he is operating out of a small workshop where he shares the floor with his friend’s painting business. Technical work, if required, is outsourced to the experts. Moghe aims at owning a workshop and a lead an entire team of talented experts. Apart from motorcycles, Moghe also aims at customising cars, SUVs and trucks and is currently accepting orders all across India.

You can contact him on +91 77188 30355, write to him on shardulomania.don@gmail.com or connect to him via Facebook to further discuss customisation and the budget. Check out the images of some of his creations in the gallery below.

  1. His company Name says it all. Atleast, the bikes will look much much better if colours were chosen properly. No offence though. Great work on that Yezdi. Hope it taste like an old wine!
