The car that you see in the pictures here is the production spec BMW 4-series Coupé that has been in news since some time now. The BMW 4 Series is a part of BMW’s plans to plug in all the gapsin its current line up of cars by offering new body variants of the existing cars with more features and at a higher price. The new nomenclature has been done in such a way that all the 4 door sedans get odd numbered series names and the Gran Coupe/ Coupe/ Cabriolet get even numbered series names.

Hence, the BMW 4 Series is based on the 3 Series sedan and has coupe and convertible body variants in pipeline. There is also a slight possibility that a 4 Series Gran Coupe might be launched in near future.

The 4 Series Coupe is based on the 4 Series Coupe Concept that was previewed at the Los Angeles motor show recently and the new 4-series Coupe is being expected to go on sale towards the end of 2013.

As is obvious, the 4 Series cars will replace the 3-series Coupé and Convertible.

From these images, it is now pretty clear that some of the concept car’s bolder styling elements will not make it into production. The production spec car won’t sport the concept’s full-width mesh insert in its rear bumper. Nor will it come with integrated tailpipes.

At the front, the production spec car WILL come with the concept’s stylish bumper and the large air intakes below the headlamps.

Next year, the 4 Series coupe and convertible will be joined by the M4 coupe with the cabrio following in 2015.
