Porsche 911 50th anniversary celebrations begin in March

The Porsche 911 has to be one of the most recognized and popular performance cars ever. The 911 is also a study in car design and the basic design form of the car has remained essentially the same since it was first introduced.

The Porsche 911 has to be among the most successful model in the history of German sportscar maker. The car has been through a zillion updates and model changes and Porsche has sold more than 8,20,000 units of 911 till dat.

The 911 celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and the German car maker is ready to launch an year long golden jubilee celebration.

Porsche will be seen launching a host of celebratory events across the globe in 2013 and the first of this event will take place in March.

The first event will see Porsche displaying four special 911 models at its museum in Stuttgart between March 7 and 11. The cars that will be put on display will be a vintage 911 Turbo Coupe, a 1881 911 Cabriolet Study, a street legal version of 1997 911 GT1 and the pre-series Type 754 T7.

Porsche also plans to send a 1967 Porsche 911 on a world tour. The 1967 911 will pass through five continents and will be put on display at Pebble Beach Concours, Goodwood Festival Of Speed, California, China, Paris and Australia.
