Petrol and diesel prices in India have been hiked again! The price rise will come into affect from January 4, 2014 and the price rise is courtesy Government’s decision to raise the commission being paid to the fuel stations.

Post this price rise, petrol will become dearer by 75 paise per litre, while diesel prices will go up up by 50 paise per litre.

It may be noted that these figures are exclusive of state, local and value added taxes.

Petrol in Mumbai, which currently costs INR 78.56 per litre, will cost INR 79.52 per litre after the price hike comes into effect. Diesel prices will go up from INR 60.80 to INR 61.42 per litre in Mumbai.

The latest hike in fuel price comes just fortnight after the central government raised petrol prices in the country by 41 paise per litre and diesel prices by 10 paise per litre. The previous price increase too was done to increase the commission paid to petrol pump dealers.
