Petrol and diesel prices to rise by over Rs 3 per litre

After months of relief, petrol and diesel prices in the country would witness a sharp rise following a steep increase in international crude prices. Effective from midnight, a litre of petrol would cost Rs 3.18 while diesel will prices would rise by Rs 3.09 per litre. Prior to this price hike, petrol prices were slashed on as many as 10 occasions since August while diesel prices saw six price cuts since October 2014.

With these new prices in effect, a litre of petrol would cost Rs 68.14 in Mumbai while the same measure in Delhi would cost Rs 60.49. The prices of diesel in Mumbai and Delhi would stand at Rs 49.71 and Rs 57.92 per litre respectively.
