Pagani Huayra becomes the fastest road legal car on Top Gear track

Top Gear seems to have found a king of their track. Pagani Huayra, one of the fastest and the most exotic supercars in the world has managed to displace the fly-like agile Ariel Atom V8 for the quickest lap honor at the Top gear test track.

The lap time record held by the Ariel Atom V8 single seater car stood at 1:15:1, the Huayra broke it comprehensively by shaving off more than a second from the Atom’s time.  It’s not that no other car has managed to better than time around TG’s fames test track. However, all the cars with a better time are not road legal, which means their use is meant strictly for the track. Pagani Zonda R and Ferrari FXX are two of the car which have a better lap record, but both are not meant for public roads.

The Huayra supercar is is powered by a 6.0 liter bi-turbo V12 AMG engine. It’s good for 730bhp of peak power and 1000Nm of peak torque. With those specs, the Huayra is blindingly fast too with a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed in excess of 370km/h.

The S1.4 million supercar may have become the undisputed king of the Top Gear track for now, but the upcoming Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1 and Ferrari F150 are close on its heels to challenge its. Interesting times ahead!
