Over 7000 units of the Hyundai Eon voluntarily recalled in India over faulty clutch cable

Hyundai Motor India has issued a voluntary recall of the Eon hatchback. The company has initiated a service campaign to recall and inspect the ‘Clutch Cable Fouling with Battery Cable’ of Eon cars produced in the month of January 2015. The aforementioned part will be replaced free of charge.

The brand will recall 7657 units of the Eon in India manufactured between 1st January 2015 and 31st January 2015. Eon customers of respective period will be notified in a phased manner for inspection of the clutch cable fouling with Battery Cable and replace the Battery Cable if found damaged.

Hyundai has recalled the Eon barely a few days after the company registered its highest ever sales in the current year (2016). Currently, the Eon is available with a 0.8-litre MPI petrol engine and a 1.0-litre Kappa petrol engine. The former is tuned to produce 56 PS and 75 Nm of torque while the latter is capable of producing 69 PS and 94 Nm of torque. Both the motors come paired to a five speed manual transmission. The Hyundai Eon is available for a price tag starting at Rs. 3.24 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
