Ever since Ford announced it’ll be making a RHD variant of its iconic Mustang, this was the moment Indian enthusiasts had been waiting for. We’ll only get the full blown 5.0 L GT (V8) version, usurped only by the slightly more track focused Shelby GT350 version starring a flat-plane crankshaft endowed V8. It’s 5.0 litre, Ti-VCT V8 engine is good for 435 hp and 542.3 Nm of torque, endowing the iconic American pony car to scant from 0 to 100 kph in a mere 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250km/h.

Power is sent to the rear wheels using a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that features paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Internationally, a six-speed manual transmission with launch control comes as standard, but unfortunately, we won’t get the purist’s choice here. Other performance oriented features include Brembo brakes with 6-piston front callipers, an Electronic Line-Lock function for smoky (not snaky) burnouts, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and for the first time in Mustang history – an independent suspension set-up at the rear.

There are also four driving modes to choose from – Normal, Snow/wet, Sport, and Track. In India, the Mustang will come with the GT Performance package as standard, which gets the aforementioned Brembo brakes, and a TORSEN differential with 3.73 Axle Ratio. The Mustang will ride on magnetorheological dampers, while 19″ Ebony Black painted, multi-spoke aluminium wheels fill up the flared arches.
