Official: Audi To Launch A6 On August 3, Plans To Bring Audi A3 In India

Audi India is on a rampage against its rivals BMW and Mercedes Benz. While both the BMW and Mercedes Benz are taking their own time to launch vehicles in India Audi on the other hand is just not stopping itself from introducing newer cars in their Indian Market portfolio.  With the upcoming Audi A6 which is slated to launch on August 3 in Gurgaon, Audi will have reinforced arsenal to go head on head with the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes Benz E Class.

The new car has hit production already in Audi’s Aurangabad plant, with the company planning to sell about 2,000 units in a year. The engine options include the 2.0 lit TDI which is also seen as the base engine for the Audi Q5 which makes 177 bhp of power and 360 Nm of torque. Then then are bigger engines in store too which include the 3 lit TDI and 3.2 lit TFSI petrol engine and also a smaller capacity petrol engine.

The Audi Q3 mini Crossover too is making its way in 2012 and will give some real tough time to not only to BMW who is selling the X1 but to every carmaker selling in the sub 25-30 lakh price bracket. After Q3 India gets the Audi A3 Saloon. Audi India’s boss, Michael Perschke has confirmed this news by saying that “The next logical step after getting the Q3 to India in 2012 is to look at the A3.”

The company will do a product research for the A3 by the end of 2011 and if the results are positive then there is no stopping for the A3 to land in India. The Audi A3 is a compact Saloon and is even shorter than the VW Jetta by 188mm. If you remember we reported to you about the Audi A3 concept which was showcased In Geneva Auto show.

The A3 will be priced at around 20lakhs or so and will create a stir amongst buyers who always wished to own a premium brand car. Audi is also looking forward to launch the Audi A1 compact in the next two years.

  1. this looks really coolll… anyone know when going to be launched… when asked in a showroom about this, they said they have not got the confirmation from the company about this

  2. Am i the only one who thinks Yamaha's been secretly testing out a 250cc R-series bikes rather than the re-vamped r15. Even the recent price cut of 10k on the new stocks of the r15 point in the same direction, If you ask me the 250cc will share the same chasis and stuff with a slightly different visual presentation i,e, fatter rubbers, that sharp tail section etc. Yamaha would be stupid to ruin the power to weight ratio and handling of the r15 by shodding it with fatter rubbers. Me thinks a 250cc from Yamaha is on the cards. 🙂
