Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate first ever international EV-Expo in India

With the objective to convert 10% of the two, three and four wheeled fuel killers into hybrid or electric machines, the Government of India is all set to inaugurate India’s first ever International Electric Vehicle (EV) Expo 2015. The ribbon cutting of the green mobility exhibit will be done by Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari. The four-day international exposition will be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 24 December to 27 December 2015.

The EV-Expo 2015 is the first ever intensive effort put together after the passing of Motor Vehicles (Amendment Bill, 2015), bringing E-Carts & E-Rickshaws under the domain of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The EV-Expo in India to showcase technologically advanced, pollution free and cost effective electric rickshaws and carts. The event will be marked as a step towards realization of the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020. The expo will showcase the latest environment friendly electric vehicles, component, services and products from over 100 Indian and international companies. More than 500 top tier business and ministerial delegates from around the globe, headed by County Mayor Shan Chanfeng, are expected to attend the EV-Expo. China has the highest number of companies showcasing their products.

Commenting on the occasion, Anuj Sharma, Chairman, E-Rickshaw Committee, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways said that the EV-EXPO 2015 comes at a time when country is trying to bring down the alarming level of pollution and cost of commuting. He further added that the event will create an ecosystem and explore technicalities, policies, market opportunities and challenges for the exhibitors, buyers, global leaders, opinion makers, Govt(s), media. It will raise awareness about green transportation, electric vehicles, battery rickshaws, e-carts, batteries, motors, components and accessories.
