Nissan's Compact Car will hit the roads in July, 2010

Nissan Motor Company's first, 'Made- in- India' compact car is expected to roll out in July, 2010 from its Chennai plant. The company had earlier announced that the Chennai plant would become operational by May, 2010 and it will be the sourcing hub for the global compact car for Europe.

Nissan Motor Company is currently in the middle of its plans of shifting the production of its Micra cars for the European market from the U.K to Chennai and also plans to expand its network by adding 55 dealerships, some of which would be owners of multiple outlets by 2012.

Nissan hopes to achieve a market share of 5.5 per cent in India, which is equivalent to the global market share of Nissan. The company will export 110,000 units in 2011 to more than 100 countries, particularly Europe and will later increase it to 180,000 units.
