Nissan Terrano, rebadged Duster, could come in late 2013

Nissan-Terrano-Duster-launch

It is a very well known fact that Nissan plans to come up with a re-badged Duster, which will be sold under its moniker, in near future. In the latest development regarding the upcoming Nissan-ised Duster, it has emerged that the Japanese car maker plans to rename the compact SUV to ‘Terrano’.

This means that the compact SUV will resurrect the Terrano brand. It may be noted that Nissan used to sell an SUV named Terrano between 1993 andl 2006. The Terrano was sold in several European markets and the SUV was also known as Mistral and Ford Maverick at some places.

Unlike what was being expected, the Nissan Terrano will be more premium, hence, more expensive than the Renault Duster. It may be noted that so far, it has been seen that Renault versions of Nissan cars (read: Pulse for Micra, Scala for Sunny) have been priced higher than the offerings from Japanese auto maker. However, the Terrano will be priced around INR 50,000 to 75,000 higer than the Duster.

Justifying the higher price tag of the Terrano will be a longer equipment list and maybe a longer warranty period. Visually, the Terrano will be slightly different from the Duster and will sport a new front fascia that will consist of a new bumper, revised headlights and a new front grille. The Terrano will also have a new tailgate and new design motif for the tail lamps. However, the car is expected to remain unchanged on the inside.

Talking about the exterior styling, we won’t be too surprised to see some design cues coming from the X-Trail. The Nissan Terrano could be launched in late 2013 and we expect to soon start seeing pics of Terrano test mules surfacing on the cyber space.
