For the uninformed, NISMO is the performance division (Nissan Motorsports) of Nissan, similar to what Abarth is for Fiat. Now, according to a report, Nissan India is considering the NISMO high performance products for the Indian car market. The first vehicle to be launched here with NISMO moniker is being said to be the Micra hatchback (March in international markets).
Powering the NISMO Micra is a supercharged 1.2 liter petrol mill that cranks out a respectable 114 Bhp of max power and 156 Nm of peak torque. For comparison, the regular India spec petrol Micra engine outputs 74 Bhp of max power and 104 Nm of twisting force. NISMO offers 5 speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options on the high performance Micra. The NISMO Micra is also fitted with a sporty body kit to differentiate it from the regular Micra. With the increased power, the car also gets sporty dampers to transform it’s handling.
Speaking of other cosmetic changes, the car comes equipped with 16 inch alloys, an upgrade from the 15 inchers. On the inside, the NISMO Micra features a new sporty steering wheel that is smaller, an all-black theme for the interiors, new instrumentation and contrast stitched seats.
While there isn’t a timeline for the launch, we hope Nissan launches the high performance hatchback early next year. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more dope on this.
