Believe us when we say that we saw it coming! Nissan India tweeted earlier today that the Evalia MPV will now be available at special price of just INR 7.99 lakh. Check out Nissan India’s Tweet below:
This means that the carmaker has decided to give the Evalia a meaty price cut of almost INR 1.15 lakhs.
It may be noted that the Nissan Evalia, which was launched in September last year, hasn’t really managed to take the sales charts by a storm. Looking at the sales figures of last six months, we can see that only 921 units of the Nissan Evalia were sold, which is just a fraction of the sales figures of the very successful Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (5000 units). Even the Chevrolet Enjoy has a better sales figure of 2500 units to boast about.
The Nissan Evalia is powered by a 1.5 litre diesel engine and is on sale in 4 trim levels.
It is being said that Nissan India is also planning to come up with some updates for the slow selling MPV.
Many car market analysts are of the opinion that the Evalia is the victim of poor brand image and comes across as too utilitarian. To solve this issue, Nissan India could be planning to bestow the Evalia with features like captain seats for middle row in a bid to make the MPV more appealing to private car buyers. The interiors of the car will also get better plastics, richer materials and a longer equipment list.
Nissan will also address the biggest grievance from Evalia owners – the fixed middle window. The updated Evalia will get sliding windows for the middle row.
