That the Indian subsidiary of Nissan will soon come up with a ‘Nissanized’ version of its Global partner Renault’s Duster compact SUV is a known fact. Now, here we have two images of an unknown compact SUV from Nissan India and these pics are being said to be strictly for “internal circulation and study purposes”. On a closer observation, it is easy to make out that these images aren’t actual photographs but are digital renderings from some design lab.
On a comparison with Renault Duster images, it turns out that the vehicle in these images has quite some resemblance with the Renault compact SUV. Nissan has earlier said that the Nissan’s Duster based Compact SUV will be a lot more than simply being a ‘re-badged’ Renault Duster and it has also come to light that the Nissan Compact SUV will be launched sometime this year.
The Nissan Compact SUV seems to sport a similar rear windscreen, similar rear fenders, similar ORVMs, similar front windscreen and almost similar creased on the hood. What further helps us to believe that the car seen here might be the Nissan’s Duster based Compact SUV is the fact that the car appears identical in dimensions to the Renault Duster.
Talking about the differences, the Nissan Duster gets an all new from fascia that doesn’t has the slightest hint of the Renault Duster. The changes include a slightly different hood, a very Nissan-ish front grille, completely new headlamps, a new bumper and new front fenders. At the rear, the car gets completely re-designed tail lamps, a revised rear bumper and a different rear wiper.
Safely expect the Nissan’s Duster based SUV to have a price advantage of about INR 30-50k when it goes on sale around Diwali this year.
