The next generation of the Volkswagen Passat was recently spotted testing on public roads for the first time ever. The car was spotted in United States, where it seemed to be undergoing hot weather testing.

The next gen VW Passat should arrive in mid 2015 and will be based on the much publicized MQB platform. This platform will be widely shared with many other VW group cars and this means that VW will earn more profits.

From the spy pics, it appears that the 2016 Passat will be longer and wider and should be internationally available in a range of body styles. In other news, it has also emerged that apart from petrol and hybrid motors, the Passat will also offer an option of a twin turbo diesel motor, which might churn out some 180 BHP of power and 350 Nm torque. The new car, in all probability, would continue having a Tuetonic desing language along with playing the perfect younger sibling to the Audi luxury sedan.
