Honda’s highest selling scooter, the 110cc Activa has received an model year upgrade for 2015. The Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer has launched the third generation of Activa scooters named as Honda Activa 3G. So what has Honda wrapped up in this new package? Well, there is some bad news for all those who were expecting massive changes in the third generation Activa.

In terms of mechanical specifications, the third generation Honda Activa 3G remains identical to the outgoing model. So doing the job at hand is the same tries and tested 109.2cc single-cylinder engine that churns out 8 PS of power and 8.74 Nm of torque. The Activa 3G also benefits from Honda Eco Technology (HET) for better fuel efficiency. Honda claims a fuel efficiency figure of 60 kmpl for the Activa 3G. The suspensions, brakes and tyres remain similar to the outgoing model. The Activa 3G also retains Honda’s Combi-Braking System (CBS).

Styling cues aren’t very different either. The Activa 3G looks identical to the outgoing model in looks as well, excluding a few tweaks. The headlight and the front apron receive minuscule changes. The  The instrument cluster, apart from a few graphical changes, did not receive any design updates and the Activa 3G continues with an all-analogue setup. The tell-tale control switches too, and you guessed it right, are alike the second generation Activa.

What’s different are the side panels and the tail end. The side panels receive subtle changes and the air slits have now been slightly re-positioned. The side panels also receive a 3-D Activa emblem with 3G suffix instead of a sticker on the outgoing model. The rear now receives a redesigned and larger tail light and turn indicators.

The Honda Activa 3G is priced at Rs 48,852 (ex-showroom Delhi), about Rs 3,000 dearer than the outgoing model and will be available in five colour shades – Trance blue metallic, Lusty red metallic, Geny grey metallic, Black and Pearl amazing white.. Honda has played it safe with minimum experiments on its highest selling brand. However, we are not sure how the audience will react to the slight premium that the Activa 3G carries.
