The bookings for the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class have been underway in the country since almost a couple of months now and from what we know, the order books at Mercedes India dealers are overflowing with the bookings of the new Mercedes flagship sedan. It is being said that the new S Class is already sold out in the country for next three months!
As we have been saying, the 2014 S-Class will commence its Indian innings with just one engine variant- the S500. The S500 petrol variant is powered by a 4663cc V8 motor that has a max power of 453 BHP and peak torque of 71..38 kgm. The S-Class will come to us via CBU route and is expected to be priced around INR 1.5 Crores! However, the S Class is slated to become cheaper with the commencement of CKD operations in July, which will also see the launch of the S350 CDI diesel variant.
The new S-Class is loaded with a plethora of safety features such as Active Parking Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Night View Assist Plus, DISTRONIC Plus with Steering Assist, Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist, Pre-Safe Brake with pedestrian recognition etc.
From what our counterparts in the west have been telling us, the latest gen S-Class re-defines the luxury car segment and going by the rave reviews the car has garnered, we feel that Mercedes India is all set to re-gain the leadership in the luxury car segment of Indian car bazaar.
