New Jaguar XE photograph released

Jaguar is really bullish about the new XE compact executive sports saloon. When launched, it will be the cheapest Jaguar available and compete with the likes of the BMW 3 Series(F30), Mercedes’ new W205 C Class and of course, the old Audi A4 which has admittedly become too long in the tooth.

Earlier this month, Jaguar had announced that the XE will see its world premiere in London on the 8th of September this year, along with a few technical details which include an integral link rear suspension, an F-TYPE derived front suspension and a latest generation electronic power steering setup, amongst other things. Along with that, the XE will feature an all-new aluminum intensive construction, a first of its kind for Jaguar Land Rover. This new ‘iQ Al’ architecture is said to underpin other upcoming models in the JLR portfolio as well- the Discovery replacement to start with. [Read more here.]

On the engines front, Jaguar will be using the new “Ingenium” family of premium diesel and petrol engines, featuring configurable and flexible architecture to accommodate a range of power trains, transmission and technologies. The engines are even scalable up and down to create smaller or larger displacement variants in the future. Jaguar has also confirmed about the performance variants that XE will spawn. One of them will feature the F-TYPE’s supercharged V6 engine. Also on the cards is an even faster SVR variant.  Rumored to feature the F-TYPE’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, the XE SVR is said to churn out a whopping 500PS/600Nm, which will give the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and the BMW M3/M4 a run for their money.[Read more here]

Having released one more frontal photograph, Jaguar also announced that it will mark the launch of the new XE sports sedan with the “FEEL XE” project, an audio-visual spectacle featuring English born, Scottish recording artist and songwriter Emeli Sandé,  that will be seen and heard across the Thames river in London on September 8th  when the car will be unveiled.  The special new track will be doing its rounds in social media circles using the #FEELXE tag.
