We reported in detail when Indian Motorcycles, a Polaris group owned brand, came to our shores earlier this year in January. For the commencement of its Indian operations, Indian Motorcycles came up with three models – Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and the top of the line Chieftain.

Now, thanks to a new report that has surfaced on the cyber space, we’ve got to know that the bike maker is planning to come up with three dealerships within this financial year. Indian Motorcycles is already close to launching its first dealership in India in Gurgaon very soon. The Gurgaon dealership will be responsible for all the sales coming from the NCR. Also, the bike maker will be seen coming up with a dealership in Bangalore by third quarter and in Mumbai in the last quarter of current fiscal.

Powering all the three Indian Motorcycles that are on sale in India is a Thunderstroke 1811cc 49 degree V-Twin engine that has a peak torque of 139Nm. The engine comes mated to a six speed transmission in all the three bikes. Indian Chief prices in India start at INR 26.5 Lakhs, with the top end variant retailing for a whopping INR 33 Lakhs (all prices are ex-showroom in Delhi).

Pankaj Dubey, managing director of Polaris and Indian Motorcycles recently told media that they have plans to sell as many as 20 to 30 units of these premium motorcycles in India within this year. Definitely not an easy task, not with price tags like those and a small dealership network to speak of. What say?
