BMW has launched the new M6 Gran Coupé in India. Imported and sold as a CBU unit, the BMW M6 Gran Coupé will retail for Rs 1,71,00,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

One of the fastest models in BMW’s high-performance M lineup, the M6 Gran Coupé is powered by an M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine producing peak power of 560 hp and 680 Nm of torque, most of it available thanks to the TwinScroll turbocharging technology. BMW claims a supercar-rivaling performance with 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. Thanks to BMW EfficientDynamics, claimed fuel efficiency is an impressive 10.10 km per litre of petrol.

The engine’s power is transferred to the rear wheels via a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic. Drivelogic also includes adjustable shift characteristics, a Low Speed Assistance system with a crawl function for increased comfort in stop-and-go traffic and a Launch Control system. Motor sport-style shift paddles directly on the steering wheel allow the driver to engage all seven gears without having to lift off the accelerator. The M6 Gran Coupé also features two M Drive buttons on the steering wheel for pre-programmed configurations for either a sporty or a comfortable drive.

Safety features on the M6 include six air bags, Active M Differential, M Dynamic Damper Control, M Dynamic mode, M Compound Brakes, Active Protection with Attention Assist and Active headrests (front).

Looks wise, M6 exudes BMW’s signature M design characteristics such as the eye-catching front apron with large air intakes, new Adaptive LED headlights and M‑specific double-bar kidney grille. The powerfully sculpted front wings with hallmark M grills, the side skirts and the exclusive forged M light-alloy wheels further enhance this impression. The sporty look is rounded off by a rear apron with integrated diffuser insert, two sets of M-specific twin tailpipes and the M6 logo on the boot lid. Another exclusive M feature is the lightweight contoured carbon roof, which also helps to lower the vehicle’s centre of gravity.

Inside there’s the trademark BMW iDrive with touch controller, BMW Navigation Professional (integrated Global Positioning System – GPS) with 25.9 cm colour display with 3D maps, full-colour BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific views, Connectivity through Bluetooth and USB devices, high-end Surround Sound system from Bang & Olufsen and BMW Apps. Park Distance Control (PDC) rear and front along with rear view camera come as standard.

Speaking at the occasion, Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India said, “Impressive power, outstanding technology and the true sensation of motor sports can be expressed in one single letter: M. The BMW M6 Gran Coupé has already set a new benchmark with the flawless balance of power, dynamics, comfort and luxury that is typical of M models. The new BMW M6 Gran Coupé is poised to write a fresh chapter in this success story, fuelled by a perfect symbiosis of motorsport DNA and exclusivity. The new BMW M6 Gran Coupé reinstates the leadership of BMW M GmbH in the high-performance luxury segment.”

The BMW M6 Gran Coupé will be available in the following nine metallic paintworks: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Silverstone, Space Grey, Jatoba, San Marino Blue, Sakhir Orange, Singapore Grey and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect.
