New 2016 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Facelift to get tons of new features : spied, everything revealed!

We reported about the new 2016 Maruti Suzuki Alto facelift getting ready for a launch a few days back. The face lifted model has reached some showrooms and is rumoured for a launch anytime now. The facelift version of the Alto 800, readied to counter the challenge offered by the Renault Kwid and the upcoming Datsun Redi-Go will not just be a cosmetic exercise, though, as a report on FT suggests. Here’s what you need to know about the face lifted, 2016 version of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800.

• The new Alto 800 boasts a fuel efficiency figure improved by about 9% over the version it replaces
• In terms of numbers, the fuel efficiency has gone up from 22.74kpl to 24.77kpl
• The fuel efficiency of the CNG variant has also gone up to 33.44 km/kg from 30.46 km / kg
• The car’s length has been increased by 35mm, which should increase the cabin space substantially
• The interior of the car now gets a grey interior theme, spanning door panels and the seats
• The new Alto 800 gets what Maruti Suzuki calls, the ‘Aero-Edge design’ meant to improve the aerodynamic performance of the car.
• Driver airbag available as an option even on the base variant for only INR 6,000 extra
• The exterior look of the car has been changed, with tweaks made to headlamps, bumper and front fascia.
• The new version now has provision for front fog lamps, though these can only be outfitted separately at the dealerships.
• Rear seats now come equipped with adjustable headrests even on the base variant
• Adjustable ORVMs even for the base variant of the car
• Brakes have been improved for better stopping power
• New storage spaces inside the cabin, including seat pockets
• Child lock now comes as standard on the front left door on all variants.
• Remote keyless entry available on VXi variant onwards
• The new Alto 800 will be available in new shades of Cerulean Blue and Mojito Green
