The law for motorists and drivers are getting stringent day by day to ensure their safety as well as of those around them. New and well-thought rules are a necessity of the hour and should be brought into action since the driving and riding scene of the cities are not well managed and have proved fatal to many innocent lives. The Government has introduced new norms in a bid to improve road-safety. The rule-making and implementing authority of Maharashtra, including the transport department and the traffic police of Mumbai, have instigated an order affecting the pillion riders and co-driver seat occupants.

The new amendment states that it is a compulsion for the pillion rider to wear a helmet along with the rider. Individuals who do not comply with the new norms will face a monetary penalty and will have to attend a 2-hour session of traffic rules and regulations.

Similarly, for four-wheeler owners, the co-drivers will have to wear the seatbelt in order to save themselves from unexpected and unwanted injuries and penalties. The RTO officials had conducted a drive on April 29, 2016 to catch hold of potential law violators and make them aware of the new situation.

Recently, the Government authorities notified the two-wheeler dealers to give out two helmets with each and every bike they sell to customers. The proof of the deal was supposed to be submitted to the government officials. So folks, in case you have missed it, these rules have already been implemented in the city and if you are planning to go out for a spin please carry or buy an extra helmet for the pillion and ask your co-drivers to buckle up that seatbelt.
