You might recollect a modified Mahindra Scorpio which was recently seized by the Vashi RTO for illegally modifying it to make it look like a hummer limousine. The Vashi and Andheri RTO have now seized an illegally modified Maruti 1000 for making alterations against the laws. The car was parked at a garage where it had come for getting its broken windshield repaired.

Bearing registration number MH-04-A-3824, the car was reportedly registered in the name of one Devraj Kothari residing in Mulund, who is no more. On contacting his son Jaywant who was in Malaysia at the time, the RTO officials were informed that he had modified the 15 year old vehicle 5 years ago and had exchanged it. The car was allegedly exchanged with a Hyundai Sonata by Heera Patel, a film-maker with Laxmi Balaji Entertainment.

The car came into the view of the officials as the garage is situated close to the Andheri RTO. Inspector Anandram Wagle of the flying squad, Dy. RTO, Navi Mumbai and and Pravin Sajerao of the Andheri RTO were quoted saying that the car was in violation of various Motor Vehicles Act- the A, B and C pillars of the car had been altered, the body shell of the vehicle had been cut which reduced its length, the car meant to seat 5 people seated only two whereas the four door vehicle was converted into a 2 door vehicle.

Sanjay Dhaygude, another official from the Vashi RTO said that they had impounded the car since the modifications made to the car were illegal. Meanwhile Wagle went on to add that the car was not in conformation with any approved model of the manufacturer and was neither certified by any approved agency for testing the vehicle.

The current owner of the car, Heera claimed that she decided to give the olive green coloured car which she found alluring for repairs at the garage since the windshield of the car was broken. Currently the car has been seized and a notice has been sent to both the parties involved.

An interesting part in the case being that the car, bearing the same registration number was modified under famous or rather the infamous car designer Dilip Chhabria under the name “DC Arka”. The car, which can be seen in the images though, was in a shade of red and featured as a convertible soft top instead of the olive green and a hard top it gets now.

Why would you say 'under famous or rather the infamous car designer Dilip Chhabria', is it just because of his wacky (to put in mildly) designs or is there something google search about him in the news 5 minutes ago missed something?
