More than 150 experts to drive the Ford EcoSport in Goa this month

ford ecosport india launch

The Ford EcoSport Compact SUV is surely taking a long time coming to us. The EcoSport is already on sale in many markets and is making life tough for rival car manufacturers. While the EcoSport is merely a few steps away from being launched in India, the Indian subsidiary of American auto maker has so far refrained from announcing the launch date of the upcoming Renault Duster adversary.

The marketing campaign for the EcoSport is already underway and the car has easily managed to stir a great response from the prospective car buyers in India.

That the Indian subsidiary of Ford is very serious about getting it right with the EcoSport can be seen from the marketing campaign and promotions that are being conducted across the country. Also, in a first of sorts, as many as 150 experts and media professionals from India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Taiwan will assemble at Goa to test-drive the EcoSport. The media drive of the EcoSport will happen in a few days and yes, we will be there.

The EcoSport will be exclusively manufactured in India for right-hand drive markets. No surprise then that the international media will be reviewing a Ford car, along with the Indian counterparts, in India for first time ever.

“We are hosting one of India’s most comprehensive and largest product ride and drive programmes with more than 150 participants from markets including India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan and our dealer principals from across the country driving the Chennai-built EcoSport across two weeks,” said Joginder Singh, president and managing director, Ford India.

Ford India wants to do a Figo with the EcoSport and from the looks of it, the upcoming Compact SUV looks all set to take our car market by storm.

“Before Figo, our sales were just 28,000 units per annum. Now it is over 100,000 units” said Singh. The India spec EcoSport will be sold with three engine options- 1.5 litres Normally Aspirated petrol that could power the entry level variants, 1.5 litres Turbocharged diesel that would power the diesel variant and the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine that brought a lot of laurels to Ford.
