Mercedes CLA45 AMG to debut at New York Auto Show

Mercedes-CLA45-AMG-Release-Date

We have been reporting a fair bit about the India-headed Mercedes Benz CLA that recently made its public debut at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. The CLA, which will play the baby sister to the bigger CLS Class four door coupe, is being touted to become the most affordable Mercedes Benz sedan ever.

Regulars here would remember that we have also reported about the AMG version of the upcoming CLA sedan and that the performance version will be called the CLA 45 AMG. Powering the AMG variant of the all new car, in all probability, would be a 2.2-litre turbocharged four cylinder motor with power being transmitted to all the four wheels thru the Mercedes 4Matic, all wheel-drive system. The engine should provide a max power figure of around 350 hp and a peak torque of 450 Nm and will be mated to a 7 speed dual clutch transmission enabling the CLA AMG to hit the ton in around 5 seconds and having a top whack of 250 kmph.

Recently, in a Super Bowl ad of CLA which aired in America, Mercedes USA announced that the CLA45 AMG variant of the CLA sedan will be launched at the New York Auto Show in March 2013.

The car will also get a tuned suspension setup for better handling, bigger brakes to complement the additional power, a sports exhaust system and an aero body kit along with a sportier interior trim.

The car will come with fuel-saving features like brake energy recuperation and an auto stop-start feature. Standard safety features should include a Collision Prevention Assist, Attention Assist, and a plethora of airbags.
