The E-Class (W124) holds the distinction of being the very first car with the 3-pointed star to be sold in India. According to Mercedes-Benz India, there are over 30,000 E-Class saloons on the road – making this executive saloon the German carmaker’s most sold car in India. Mercedes-Benz has now introduced the MY16 (model year 2016) E-Class saloon that comes with even more features.
The MY16 E-Class gets added features for the Indian market such as an all-new Telematics multimedia system called the Audio 20 Telematics and gets a new 8-inchhigh resolution display. This unit gets Bluetooth, radio and CD player, apart from internet capability and pre-installed navigation system. As part of this New Telematics system, Mercedes-Benz also offers USB ports and a SD card slot in the centre console, pre-installation for the GARMIN MAP PILOT navigation system, Integrated Media Interface port for iPod or iPhone, hands-free function and audio streaming for playing music files via Bluetooth and transfer of addresses from smartphone to the head unit.
The new MAP PILOT system by Garmin and all the required map data and the software for the navigation system is stored in an SD memory card. The Garmin system houses details of 7,068 cities mapped at street level, and residential house level data for 80 cities. It contains data of over 10.63 million POIs (points of interest) and displays them in 3D terrain-, building- and landmark-view. There’s also data on 2.1 million kilometres of roadways, photo-realistic junction view with lane assist, 579,000 towns and villages and 360-degree rotation function. Mercedes-Benz is also providing the MY16 E-Class with a reverse camera that come with dynamic guide-lines to further aid in parking. The Mercedes-Benz E200 is priced at Rs. 48.50 lakh*, E250CDI sells for Rs. 50.70 Lakh* and the E350CDI is priced at Rs. 59.90 lakh*.
