We reported in detail when it emerged that BMW and Pininfarina recently joined hands to develop a new two door sportscar concept. Well, the new car was recently made its public debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013 and we can’t help but marvel at how sensuous it looks.
The new coupe is the result of first-ever collaboration between BMW and Pininfarina, and we son want the duo to come up with more such cars.
The new BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso V12 Coupé not just has a long name but is also a really long car. It looks much like the coupe version of the next gen 7 Series and don’t be too surprised if the production version of this Bimmer is launched to lock horns with the new S Class coupe. Also, don’t be too surprised if the car becomes the next 8-Series.
Autoweek reports that a source in BMW said, “We want to send out the message the future is not all about electric cars, but also traditional models with real emotional appeal. Whether that includes an 8 series is not yet decided. But the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe gives an indication of how such a car might look.”
Powering the new coupe is 760Li’s 6.0-liter turbocharged unit that sends power to rear wheels. Good chances that this motor has been re-tuned to offer more than 535 hp that it offers on the 760Li sedan.
On the inside, the car looks like it has borrowed a plenty of design cues from the interiors of the 5-Series and 7-Series. However, Pininfarina has made it a point to use new materials and color themes to set the insides apart from any other Bimmer.
