Maruti Suzuki Estilo goes out of production due to dismal performance on sales charts

Believe when we say we saw it coming! The Maruti Estilo, which was earlier known as the Maruti Zen Estilo, seems to be approaching the end of its career. While Maruti would have liked the Estilo to become at least as popular as the Zen, the tallboy, which finds its roots in the MR-Wagon, could never really take the Indian small car market by storm.

In a world where close sibling Wagon R finds at least 20000 takers every month, the Estilo has been recording an average monthly sales figure of just 650 (no, we did’t miss out on a zero there)

The Estilo was launched way back in 2007 and has been through a facelift and an engine upgrade. However, the sales could never take off and the Estilo can be safely termed as a dud seller.

Autocar India recently reported that Maruti has axed the production of Estilo due to poor demand. Currently, dealerships are offering huge discounts on the the hatchback. These discounts are in the region of INR 35,000-INR 50,000 and we feel that these discounts could go up with some haggling.

Another Maruti car that isn’t performing well on the sales chart is the A Star. With an average monthly sales of less than 650 units, the latest gen Alto too can go out of production anytime now.

While the news of Estilo going out of production won’t be saddening for many, it definitely is a good time to get a great deal if an Estilo is what you have always fancied having in your garage.
