Maruti Suzuki YBA Compact SUV Spied in India

Apart from the YRA premium hatchback, as already reported by us, Maruti Suzuki will also be launching a compact SUV which has been internally codenamed as the YBA. Now, the sub 4 metre compact SUV has been spied again on the Indian soil. The YBA compact SUV will reportedly ride on the platform underpinning the Swift hatchback and will go on sale early next year. Previewed by the XA-Alpha concept, the Maruti Suzuki YBA will measure less than 4-metre in length making it eligible for excise duty benefits applicable for small cars.

Akin to the upcoming YRA hatchback, the compact SUV will also use Maruti’s existing range of engines, the K12 and K14. Contrary to the earlier reports which suggested that the Maruti YBA will be launching with the company’s in-house diesel in 2016 will now be launched with India’s national diesel engine, the Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter Multijet engine. This oil burner powers all the Maurti Suzuki diesel vehicles except the Celerio. The petrol variants of the YBA will draw power either from the 1.2-liter K-Series unit, or the all-new 1.0-liter Boosterjet turbocharged petrol mill which will make its debut the on the YRA hatchback.

The YBA compact SUV will take on the likes of the Ford Ecosport and the upcoming compact SUV from Mahindra. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more dope on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YRA compact SUV.
