Maruti Suzuki Ritz Diesel Facelift Makes it to Indian Car Market

After a lot of rumours and speculations related to the launch date of Ritz facelift, Maruti Suzuki finally introduced the refreshed hatchback to Indian car market yesterday. On the introduction of the new Ritz Diesel, Manohar Bhat, Vice President (Marketing) Maruti Suzuki India said, “It is heartening to see a fairly young brand crossing 200,000 sales mark in just 37 months. This reflects the huge customer acceptability of the Ritz. Numerous changes being introduced now will make the Ritz brand more vibrant. Most important, the new Ritz is more fuel-efficient with enhanced driving comfort. This makes it even more attractive for the customer and also gives us confidence to generate additional sales.”

As expected, The Ritz now gets a ZDi variant with full features for the diesel model. The top of the line variant for the Ritz diesel has a sticker price of INR 6.23 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Suzuki Splash aka Maruti Ritz has been in our market since three years now and with the Swift having received a complete model replacement recently, it was about time that the Ritz got a liberal dosage of botox to look fresh. The car sports a fresh front fascia with a new version of the slightly Bulgarian beard and new fog lamp surrounds. The front bumper too is all new and has some similarity with the new Swift Dzire. The car also gets new color options- Mystique Red, Granite Grey & Breeze Blue.

The 2012 Ritz is being offered with new dual tone interiors on the mid and top end variants. Also, the comfort issue with the rear seats has been taken care of with the rear seats now offering additional lumbar support. The top end variants get a new Bluetooth enabled audio system that offers controls on the steering wheel.

While the prices of the 2012 Ritz petrol too will be soon announced, it is expected that the petrol version of the car will get an optional 4 speed automatic transmission. This means that the 2012 Ritz will be seen sharing the auto ‘box with the smaller A-Star. The new gearbox option should add practicality to the tallboy. The Fiat sourced multijet engine that does duty in the Ritz diesel has been fine tuned for more fuel economy and the company claims a FE figure of 23.2 Kmpl, an improvement of 2 kmpl over the older version.

2012 Ritz Diesel Price list-

Ritz LDi : Rs 5.31 Lakhs

Ritz VDi : Rs 5.64 Lakhs

Ritz VDi with ABS : Rs 5.82 Lakhs

Ritz ZDi : Rs 6.23 lakhs
