Suzuki seems to be on a high when it comes to one of its favourite models, namely the Swift. The company recently launched a bicolor edition of the hatchback in Chile barely a month after it celebrated the sales of 5 million units of the Swift. Now, a social media handle of the Indian arm of the company has revealed that a limited edition of the Swift is on the cards.
Maruti seems to be asking its followers to suggest a new name for the limited edition model that would reportedly be ‘stylish, edgy and sporty’. The handle further suggests that the winners will be entitled to ‘big’ and ‘exciting’ prizes. The rules for the contest state that the name should be unique, original, sporty and stylish. It is well known that manufacturers launch limited editions models of popular products from their portfolio in order to keep the attention going from the public. It is likely that the limited edition model would be the one that was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo held earlier this year in Delhi.
This very edition of the Swift showcased at the Expo sported a shade of bright red with dual racing stripes in white. The stripes were seen across the car such as on the bonnet, the rear doors, the roof as well as the boot. Also in white are the ORVM’s and the garnish below the fog lamps so as the number ‘10’ which appears on the lower part of the front doors on either side. The model also receives a body kit and black alloy wheels.

The interiors could also receive a set of updates such as dual tone upholstery and a touchscreen entertainment system. Powering this edition would likely be the same engines as seen on the Swift today. These include the 1.3 litre DDiS engine and the 1.2 litre K series engine, both mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. It is also likely that this limited edition model will be available only for the mid level trims such as the ZDi or the ZXi as seen with earlier special edition models of the company.
